Learn how to retouch different skin colors and textures using various editing techniques to achieve professional-looking results
Retouching is the art of enhancing an image by removing blemishes or other distractions, and correcting color and texture.
There is so much diversity in this world, and retouching is not a ‘one-size fits all’ process. We must adapt retouching methods to allow for the wide variety of skin textures and colours. This is what this course is all about.
In this online course, I’ll teach you how to retouch diverse skin tones and textures using a variety of editing techniques. Explore Photoshop’s retouching tools to enhance and correct your images. By the end of the course, you'll know the essentials of professional retouching to take your beauty images to the next level.
Get an overview of the Photoshop CC interface and learn how to use RAW files. Learn how to set up a workflow that allows you to edit images in a way that is non-destructive and maintains quality. Explore a variety of editing techniques before learning how to approach different skin tones when retouching.
First, we’ll work on mid-light skin with some healing tools, such as brushes that cover blemishes and fine lines. I’ll show you how to use the Dodge & Burn method for lights and shadows and how to make chromatic corrections.
Then, we’ll work with darker skin tones. I’ll show you the most common mistakes, and how to deal with different contrasts and color balances.
Next, you’ll learn how to retouch freckles, acne and blemish-prone skin, and facial hair. To wrap up the course, I’ll show you how to correct patchiness or highly textured skin.
